TRISCAN SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES SENIOR MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENTS
The recent "Fuel Price Crunch", when prices went through the roof, concentrated attention even more on the need for effective fuel and fleet management. Now prices have fallen back, but the lessons have been learned. In the prevailing economic difficulties every saving and efficiency gain makes a significant competitive difference.
Triscan Systems is the UK's leading provider of fuel and fleet management solutions with over 10,000 customers. They provide powerful software systems and integrated hardware to give companies the highest
levels of command and control of their fleets. In order to meet this growing demand, Triscan made two new key appointments recently to reinforce service levels, customer account management and development.
MAJOR ACCOUNT MANGER FOR SCOTLAND
Scott McVey, 33, has joined Triscan as Major Account Manager for Scotland. Scott has a background in the Business Software sector and has extensive IT experience and in handling major accounts at senior level. Needless to say he is Scottish, and is married with two children.
PRODUCT MANAGER
Carolyn Dark, 32, has arrived at Triscan Systems to take up the role of Product Manager. Her key skill is the ability to communicate effectively with development staff and translate technical information to less technical parts of the business. In addition, she brings her extensive experience to oversee ongoing projects and provides expert communication support. Carolyn lives close by Triscan headquarters in Blackburn, Lancashire.
The new posts are part of a rejuvenation of Triscan Systems in recent times with new management, new premises and a raft of new and improved products.
"Triscan's investment in products and infrastructure continues to be underpinned by our policy of recruiting extremely high quality individuals to our management team. Both Carolyn and Scott have already made excellent contributions to the business and join at an exciting time in the evolution of the Triscan brand." said Barry McLeod, Marketing Director at Triscan Systems.

It’s a pretty gloomy time at the moment with many challenges for companies. It’s become known as “The Crunch” around the world. Although fuel prices have normalised somewhat recently, it’s still a very tough business environment for everyone.
At the Euro Bus 2008 Expo in Birmingham, Triscan Systems invited visitors to their exhibition stand to help themselves to “Crunchie” bars. A sign on the stand stated “Don’t let the crunch get you down...the Crunchie Bars are on us!”
Triscan Systems’ Managing Director, Simon Hollingsworth, said, “It lightened the mood considerably and lots of visitors to the stand had a chuckle and a Crunchie!”
The Company provides leading integrated software and hardware systems for fuel and fleet management for Companies and Local Authorities throughout the UK and Europe. It is the market leader in this field and provides significant savings and better management for major public and private bus companies, some with fleets of over 5000 buses.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TRISCAN SYSTEMS Launches Fully Integrated Fuel Management at Eurobus 2008
Market-leading fuel management software provider Triscan Systems Limited is assisting fuel champions to overcome one of their biggest issues. Access to integrated and meaningful management information at organisational HQs across fuelling sites and vehicle fleets is now a reality.
The Lancashire-based IT business has recently extended its products, including software reporting packages, to reduce management time spent in tediously reconciling key information. Fuel rebate claims or producing comprehensive monthly exception reports can now be generated almost instantly through Triscan’s new integrated software. This provides customers with meaningful and easily understood ´Clean Data´.
“This isn’t just number crunching, its crunch-busting information. The management data generated now allows fine tuning of efficiencies and systems integrity with timely, early warnings of problems or fraud.” said Triscan Director, Barry McLeod. “This is a really exciting breakthrough whereby the product portfolio can clarify site stocks, analyse and control vehicle utilisation and identify inefficient vehicle or driver performance. Highly accurate monitoring and efficient operational fuelling is needed for reporting the consumption and delivery of fuel into vehicles. In addition, larger organisations may fuel around the clock, which could potentially result in discrepancies in management reporting and fuelling irregularities.”
The Triscan Kisskey and Triscan AVR systems - via ´Clean Data Capture´ - significantly reduce the errors traditionally associated with the submission of fuelling data. While the software package, in conjunction with the module, allows users to produce accurate, simplified Windows-based reports.
For example, secure and accurate reporting for the management of fuel and calculating figures for operator’s grants and government funding is crucial. In addition, speeding and breaking are factors in identifying inefficient driver behaviour. Integration of many such factors delivers a rapid and clear data outcome allowing managers to take informed corrective action immediately.
Triscan Integrated Solutions give fuel managers real control
Barry McLeod, also said: “Triscan Integrated Management Software uses data from many or all of the Triscan hardware and software technologies; clean data via Triscan Kisskey and Triscan AVR systems, Odyssey Fuel Management software, Odyssey Vehicle Management software and the Apollo fuel island controller. We back all that that up with project management, a full service provision of tailored solutions and expert hardware installation.
Triscan Systems have been supporting and supplying the Bus and Coach industry for many years. In these more difficult times, a lot of operators are really benefiting from these empowering new software capabilities and the proven integration with Triscan hardware and its tried and tested solutions.

Blackburn Man finishes in top 3% of the Great North Run 2008
Peter Sumpton, 27, took part in the 2008 Great North Run recently and raised over £250.00 for Kidney Research UK. (Peter raised a similar amount in last year’s race too).
Pete said “I did the race for the first time in 2007 in a time of 1.47.01 and I beat this by 11 minutes this year, which is a pretty good improvement. Although it’s a competitive race, it’s a great experience too and you meet lots of interesting people along the way. Tanny-Grey Thompson was handing out bottles of water half way round, and at the start I was so focussed I ran right past Tony Blair, who was at the start line, without noticing him!”
“I was running alongside ‘Bob’ from Emmerdale (Tony Audenshaw), although he beat me to the finish line by about 10 seconds, I actually beat his overall time by 40 seconds!”
“I had nothing left at the finish, I gave it my all and to beat my previous time by 11 minutes was beyond my expectations. It is such a great event to be part of with some amazing people running for some fantastic charities.”
Over 52,000 people took part in the Great North Run this year. That’s twice the population of Cockermouth, Pete Sumpton’s home town! It’s the world’s biggest half-marathon and this was the twenty-eighth in its history.
Pete lives in the North West and works in marketing at Triscan Systems, Blackburn from who’s staff he raised most of his sponsorship money.

TRISCAN SYSTEMS BRING NEW TOTAL VEHICLE AND FLEET MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS TO EURO BUS 2008
Stand number: 5/A5
TRISCAN SYSTEMS has evolved into the UK's leading Vehicle and Feet Management Systems Solutions provider. Integrated and innovative products provide an in-depth and instant information resource by vehicle or across an entire fleet. Triscan originally grew as a fuel management systems provider but has now moved to providing complete vehicle and fleet management integrated network technologies.
There is a continuum of management and reporting solutions to match any company's needs - from a small, single site bus and coach operator with a few vehicles to multi site transport organisation such as First Bus, Warrington Transport and Tellings Golden Miller Group.
Triscan Systems products can deliver 7% to 11% improvements in fuel usage, with many reporting even bigger savings. This contributes to environmental targets, fuel saving and reductions in CO2 emissions of over 7000 kg per year!
Reporting systems provide continuous fuel, security and operational condition information and remote monitoring of vehicles and facilities for day-to-day managers with strategic oversight for
senior management.
Advanced technology is backed up by expert technical support; client training at the Triscan Academy and expert commissioning and support to give an exact fit with requirements.
Triscan Vehicle Management gives full control and reporting over an entire fleets´ actions. In addition to knowing where fuel has been issued; this extension to fuel management capabilities provides the
facts about fuel consumption and operations and ways to improve it.
Simple but effective operational policies can typically report between 7% to 11% improvements in fuel usage, and this is reportedly a conservative estimate. For the average vehicle, an improvement of around 0.5 mpg can equate to a fuel saving of around £4,000 and a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of over 7,000 kg per vehicle per year.
There will be hands-on demonstrations of Triscan products in action at the exhibition to show the versatility and value available and identify the solution to match specific requirements. See www.triscansystems.com for more information.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Fife Council - Every Drop Counts: Count Every Drop!
The credit crunch has made its presence felt right across the planet and is a phrase whose very mention leaves businesses and organisations reeling from the effects of pre-recessionary terror. The underlying manifestation of this phenomenon in the business context is that fuel is as much part of the issue; inextricably linked to the management of financial pressures is the spiralling cost of fuel and its impact on operational finances
Bulk diesel prices have increased by 37.5% over the last year and given that fuel can represent up to 45% of commercial vehicle operating costs, this presents a significant challenge in how pre determined and fixed budgets are controlled.
The Fuel Crunch can be managed though!
Fife Council, who manage a varying fleet of some 2000 vehicles, have a firm grasp of their operational issues when it comes to managing key fleet and fuel information. Their solution also overcomes the sticky issue of fuel security and on site storage.
In 2003, the Asset and Facilities Management Service department of Fife Council took an informed investment decision to provide a solution that enabled their fuel resource to be controlled and prudently managed. The return on investment that their IT solution has provided has not only repaid the initial capital layout but has also provided efficiencies gained from improved administrative practices and operational effectiveness.
As part of a major fuel storage and management project Triscan fuel management systems were installed at 17 of the councils sites, which also cater for the regions fire service vehicles; an operation which presents its own peculiar requirements. The on site fuel monitoring equipment, which is linked to the fuel pump, provides security via access control and sends transactional fuelling information back, via their network, to the administration centre based at the council’s HQ in Thornton, Fife. The Triscan software takes the information, which is set up and configured to meet the individual reporting requirements of the fleet management team, and presents it in an accurate up to date format. Rob McLachlan, the organisation’s Fleet Support Manager, has now used the Triscan software for four years and states “We wanted to work towards compatibility with other systems to provide analysis on our fleet fuelling operations, automatically producing exception reports and alerts on any fuel transaction deviations.
Rob continues “When you have potential problematical issues to overcome like a mixed fleet that includes fire engines and waste management vehicles, then idling time is a significant factor in determining how your fuel resource is being used; these vehicles are low mileage and low mpg due to their operational idling time – Our reports facility can easily identify individual vehicles and their fuel consumption amongst other key pieces of information. Other vehicles therefore, can be grouped separately for analysis. In addition we have operationally devolved budgets whereby other departments or even contractors draw fuel that has to be accounted for appropriately – We have no problem in accurately reapportioning the cost to the correct area with little impact on our administrative resource. “
Fife council spends in excess of £5m per annum on fuel; this could have represented a messy and unaccountable figure given the fuel “crisis” and its impact on budget control. Fuel cards would not have represented a viable option in that further costs and analysis would have been associated with the management of the information, adding to the problem. Rob concludes “At a time when so many factors are out of our control, it is comforting to reflect on our initial investment (which represents less than 1% of our annual fuel bill) in our Triscan infrastructure and in particular on the level of control that would have otherwise not existed. Storing and managing a considerable asset like our fuel stock has given us an element of protection in controlling our budgets; as a publicly accountable organisation we are pleased that we took the decision to do so with Triscan.
